Bakewell transforms into a hub of celebration for its annual Carnival Week, weaving a vibrant array of events that span the imaginative, such as Scarecrow Competitions, to the physically demanding Bakewell Pudding Fell Race.The festivities are dotted with competitive sports like soccer, darts, and dominoes, alongside communal activities including the family-friendly Day of Dance (29th June). Each event seamlessly contributes to the buildup towards the spectacular Carnival Day on July 1st, marking the peak of the celebration. This festivity not only highlights Bakewell’s lively community spirit but also unites all ages in enjoyment, reinforcing the town’s commitment to charity and mutual support.

Looking for somewhere to stay near Bakewell? Then you won’t be disappointed with one of our cottages situated in beautiful Darley Dale Valley. Our cottages are approximately 5 miles from Bakewell and less than 3 miles from up and coming Matlock.
For the carnival itself there’s plenty of parking by the Agricultural Business Centre in Bakewell. Bakewell is just a 12 minute car drive, or if you want to leave the car, why not hop on the Transpeak bus, which will take you down the A6 into the heart of Bakewell.
