If you ever meet somebody who has been to Derbyshire Peak District, it’s highly likely they will have been to or heard of Matlock Bath. And one of the most popular things to do in Matlock Bath is pay a visit to Gullivers Kingdom.
Gullivers Kingdom was founded in 1978 as a model village, but over the years has blossomed into a theme park providing great fun and a great day out for young families.
If you’re planning to do more then you might want to consider staying in one of our luxury self catering holiday cottages in the Derbyshire Peak District.
With the age range being officially for children of 3-13, rides such as Pirate Ship, Percy’s Pirate Adventure, Dino Explorer Cars and Dino Falls are aimed at younger family members. The biggest rides are Switchback and Log Coaster, which don’t really match up to the big rides of Alton Towers, so you might find older teenagers will be disappointed.
Other rides include the Chair Lift and the popular Cycle Monorail, the later is fun for all ages.
JCB Zone is one of the most popular areas of the theme park. Enjoy construction themed activities and take the opportunity to operate one of the iconic yellow diggers.
Save even more this year and book your theme park tickets online. Don’t forget to visit NERF Zone, it’s ideal for children aged 6 and over.
Matlock Bath has many other attractions, including the cable car ride up the cliff to Heights of Abraham or there’s the rowing boats at Derwent Gardens, which also has a children’s playground/sand pit with a fantastic wooden pirate ship to explore.
If you’re looking for more adult entertainment then there are many bars and pubs. Food wise there are lots of fish and chip shops and burgers joints and there are also several sit down restaurants serving Chinese to Italian.
Matlock Bath is akin to a seaside town in the middle of the country, so you will also find arcades, ice cream parlours and gift shops.
In the Autumn time, Matlock Bath plays host to the hugely popular Matlock Bath Illuminations which run between the August Bank Holiday and the end of the Autumn Half Term.
